1. Choose your favourite design.

The easiest way to see the different designs available is either have a look through the gallery on this site , Facebook or click on the link to Instagram as there is over 2000 images to give you some inspiration.

2. Individualize your piece.

Some of the European/Pandora style charms pictured have been supplied by clients to suit their individual tastes and to reflect their relationship with their horses. I can add supplied charms for no extra charge if you post the charm in with the tail hair. I can add any beads, charms or pendants that have a 5mm hole as it needs to accommodate the width of the braid and the end caps. The "clip on" Pandora charms do not have a 5mm hole and are not suitable for the squarebraid bracelet. Bracelets are best with one charm but they can take up to 3 charms but it depends on the weight and style of the charm.

I have several designs with charms that I have in stock.

It is not possible for you to supply charms for the Stainless Steel lockets. Please contact me for current stock.

 

3. Collecting the Hair.

Please check FAQ in the above link for how to collect the hair. Most bracelet and keyring designs require a section as thick as your finger for the length of the tail (at least 45cm, 70-80cm long for a wrap). Pendants need a section as thick as your pinkie for a minimum of 20-30cm. Necklaces and hatbands need a section as thick as your finger for 70-80cm depending on style. See item in PRICE LIST for exact amounts. If you don't have your own horse or tail hair I do have a supply of stock hair that you can choose a matching colour from. Message me and we can discuss some options. 

 

Please note that although it is possible to make some of the designs using mane hair the process is much more time consuming and difficult to get a pleasing result. Therefore I might need to charge up to an extra $20 if you need me to work with mane hair or tangled hair. I have a photo album on the facebook page with ideas for mane hair. Depending on the length of the mane hair it is best suited to pendants.

Resin pieces with pet hair require only a few pieces of hair. If you supply a section around the the size of the tip of your thumb I can choose the best hairs for your chosen design. If you would like a "clumped" look the hair needs to be supplied with all hair facing the same as just trimmed.

4. Supplying  Cremation Ash.

​

Please supply Cremation Ash in a Ziplock back with a mix of fine ash and larger pieces. Each piece requires around 1/4 of a teaspoon.

All unused ash will be returned with your piece to add back to your urn.

5. How to measure your wrist for a bracelet.

Use a soft measuring tape and wrap it snugly but not tightly around your wrist where you would wear your watch. Using this measurement I will add between 2-3cm to get a good fit. The extra amount depends on the thickness of the braid and if you are having charms added. If you don’t have a soft measuring tape use a piece of non stretch string or ribbon and wrap it around your wrist and then measure that on a ruler or just send the string in with the hair. Alternatively measure an existing bracelet length and note it on the order form. Be sure to note which measurement you are supplying.

6. Posting

Please post to address on the order form. I always recommend tracked post. Tails of Adornment holds no responsibility for items during postage either to or from me.

Name and return address, if it is a gift for someone please supply both your address and the address to return the item to if it is different. If you would like a card sent with the gift please include it when you supply with hair.

6. Time it takes to create the piece.  

For most of the year it will be 10-14 days from receiving the hair for your item to be posted back to you. Some rings take 4-5 weeks due to sizing. During busy periods, especially at Christmas this can stretch out.  I start receiving Christmas orders in September and usually last orders for Christmas are received by mid November to ensure I can get them back to you in time for the big day. Please let me know if the piece is required by a certain date and I can try to accommodate this. Urgent items can be requested for a fee excluding rush periods as above.

 

7. Payment

Once your piece is finished I will message or text you a photo and if you are happy with it payment is by direct deposit to an account on the invoice. Once payment has cleared I will post your piece and any remaining hair to you. If you don't require the remaining hair returned I am happy to add it to my stock hair. If the account is not paid within 2 months or a payment plan set at the time of completion the hair and the item will be retained and sold as a stock item to recoup costs. 8. Return Postage.

Return postage is always tracked either by regular mail which is $12.00 or $15.00 for an express post bag. Sign on Delivery post and insurance quote on request and is paid once the piece is made. I am not responsible for losses or damage caused by Australia Post during transit either to or from me.
